Good Conversations

Posted January 26th, 2010 in Creative Uses, Problem Solving

Cathy One of my roles at Healthy Interactions is speaking to all of you, our trained facilitators. On a typical day, I call about thirty of you hoping to hear your feedback on the Conversation Map® education tools. Needless to say, I have a lot of good conversations. One of the things that I enjoy hearing most are your creative uses of the Conversation Map education tools.

Two weeks ago, I spoke to an educator in Washington, DC. She is the Director of Health and Wellness for several on-site health clinics located within manufacturing plants. She supervises five health coaches who facilitate sessions with the Conversation Map education tools. The plants are often open 24/7, so sessions are held between all shifts to accommodate employees. The health coaches love using the tools and I love the way these educators accommodate employee schedules to help facilitate learning and behavior change.

I have also spoken to many of you who are using the Conversation Map education tools with staff in traditional settings, such as hospitals and clinics. Recently, I spoke to an educator who was having trouble filling her patient sessions. To remedy this, she marketed Conversation Map sessions to her hospital’s employees and scheduled convenient sessions during lunch hours. Because a Map session is typically two hours in length, the educator divided each Conversation Map session into two 1-hour sessions. The employees enjoyed the sessions and the educator felt re-energized facilitating learning with a new population!

If I have not phoned you yet, I will soon! When I leave you a message, call me back. I hope that you will be my next “good conversation.”
