Podcast #1- AADE Poster Presentation

Posted January 20th, 2010 in Getting Started, Podcast, Poster Presentation

Cathy At the AADE Annual Meeting in Atlanta this last year, diabetes educators, Heather F. DeBellis, Pharm.D. and Joycelyn A. Cornthwaite, MS, RD, LD presented a poster entitled, “Utilizing Diabetes Conversation Maps® as an Interactive Reinforcement Mechanism.”

This poster described the methods and outcomes for a study involving patients with diabetes using the diabetes Conversation Map® education tools. The Maps were utilized as a follow-up experience after initial diabetes education.

Labs were drawn pre and post education with outcomes revealing significant improvements in key markers such as A1c, total cholesterol, LDL, HDL and triglycerides.

Listen to our first podcast as Leah Sembler, RD, LD of Healthy Interactions speaks to Heather and Joycelyn about their exciting results.

You will enjoy the enthusiasm and insight that these educators bring as they explain the inevitable “learning curve” when transitioning to a Conversation Map education program, but how easy it becomes when you see the positive health outcomes that the Maps generate!

I ask you to send us your stories of patient education with the Conversation Map tools either via email to learn@healthyinteractions.com or podcast, so that we may share with other health care providers the compelling ways that you are using the tools.
